OK I got my c3 running good and all the electrical is operational. The exhaust is the stock exhaust but in bad shape. I have the 2" ram horns that I am not changing yet. But I was trying to decide between two exhaust setups true duals all the way back to 2 flowmasters or true dual into 2 glass pack and a pipe coming out the side of the car right before the rear wheels with angle cuts like a stock car. I want a nice rumble and I dont really like the dumps that a stock exhaust system has in the rear. Would the twin glasspacks and pipes out the side look and sound ok and if anyone has a pic of the same sort of thing I would love to see it. PS I love the way sidepipes sound but I have kids and a wife lots of leg burns would be bad so I have decided against them
If you are wanting the side exhaust sound without the leg burn, go with the chambered dual exahust from Mid America. I have had mine now for two years and still smile from ear to ear every time I stand on the gas.
There is not as lot of ground clearance in front of the rear tires because the frame is kind of low at that point. I think you would be dragging the syatem on every bump in the road.
My nephew replaced the center cross member on his '80 with a used cross member from a '74. He got the cross member, transmission bracket and exhaust hanger from carols corvette dismantlers. Then he put in a 2-1/2" true stage 2 dual exhaust from Allen's. The cross member was a good fit (the holes in the frame bracket had to be slightly elongated). Allens also has Stage I and II chambered systems.
Oh my load I just picked up my car from the exhaust shop and I elected to have true dual 2 1/4" installed all the way back into two V force V chamber type mufflers. It sounds Bad AZZ just the sound I was looking for very happy. If you are near Woodstock Kens Stainless Exhaust did A fantastic job very pleased. It costed me $530 plus tax for true duals and both mufflers installed in Aluminized pipe.
I agree with Ron71 :yesnod: I have the chamberd from Midamerica and I love that sound especially with the cam that I have, It definetly has a head turning sound when you stand on it! :jester
