Well, I have my '72 here for near 9 years now, and all the original rebuilt stuff is still strong...things like rear suspension, front suspension, but of course all the mods since then go from front to rear....so I guess most ALL vettes in realtiy are rolling test labs.....
It's my guess that Jim Shea's chrome shark....'72?? is the most stock of any on this forum....think it's NCRS of some type award....
I think I have the answer........
Do all the work you think it needs and then NEVER drive it again.
Soon as you drive it you get stone chips... need repaint
You get used to the humungous horsepower you just put in... you need more power.
You may break something... you need to re-engineer it so it won't do it again.
Question: does this mean trailer queens are "completed"?
Re: Does Anyone Have A "Completed" C3? (RHD '68 L89)
Most everyone here has a completed C3, I just don't think they realize it. Don't sweat the small problems and go out and drive it. If the brakes work and it starts and steers, it's completed. If the temp guage does not work it does not mean it is not "complete" and you have to take it off the road for 3 months until you get a backordered part from Ecklers.
Just like the other guy said, what do you define as "complete"?
Someone once told me that "Done is better than perfect".
So why is my '78 off the frame and every last part overhauled, replaced, painted, or (my favorite) put back on the workbench because I can't remember where it went???
Setting one's sights on a completion goal leads to frustration, and if by some misfortune one obtains it, one then owns only a car. It's a lot more fun having a perpetual hobby. Mine will never be complete! (but I do often wish I could get a little closer) :D
Every now and then I think I see the light at the end of the tunnel, but NO - it's just the blood rushing to my head from laying on the floor under the damn thing for too long. Then when I get up I see stars and pretty colors....oh....

There is no such thing!
:iagree:
I'm planning on putting on performance mods over the next few years and then doing a body off after about 5 years. Only time will tell; it's a never ending hobby. :D
My Corvette is a complety stock car and it seems like I have an endless list things to fix on it. By the time I get those done I'm sure new ones will turn up. Radio, shocks, clock, horn, cowl induction, shifter, interior, alarm, are on the list right now. Lucky for me they don't keep me from driving and enjoying it though. I feel sorry for you "hot rod" guys ! Your life must be in constant turmoil....always new and better stuff to think about !
