Default Rear end upgrade possibilities??

I was looking for some opinions and possible links to bolt in
rear ends without mods to the car itself as an upgrade for the stock unit.

Something that can stand up to 600+HP in a street driven car. No intended track use.

What do you guys use?
I still have the stock unit that is working fine right now, but I'm sure that I will
run into trouble at some point.
When it does happen, I don't want to waste time researching.....so do it now!

auburn gear makes a cone differential unit for the vette-- from what i've read they can hold more torque than the flat disk design, and are used more for racing. the unit runs about $460 and bolts right in the pumpkin-- but i don't know anyone that's running one.

here's the link-- the vette unit is towards the bottom.

If all you're running is street tires, then the stock unit should suffice for a while. Things only start breaking when you get traction, and with 600hp+ that will not happen without slicks.

I don't know if I would use an Auburn cone type with 600 hp. Check the paper I wrote last week on differential rebuilding, with some mods you can build it yourself that will hold up better then stock but just how long under 600hp is anybodys guess.
