well...ive lost another center hub... :mad 2nd one now!
i am seriously considering going with the Swept Fin Spinners...
i dont like them on all C3's but i think they would look good on my car,
i especialy think they would compliment my newly polished wheels :D
anyway...if i do this, i want to also use the "cones" that hide the lug nuts...
because, after all...you certainly wouldnt have both nuts AND knock offs...
my questions are...
do these just "snap on" (and off) as the original hubs do?
do they hold on better than the original plastic hubs?
who's running these and if you are, do you like the way they attach?
Re: whataya know about wheel spinners??? (SIGNGUY)
I have them on my 77 they look pretty good bt make sure you get the set screws locked in really well and when you thread the spinner on, put a light bead of silicon on the threads then lock their set screw down. This will keep them on and will stil allow you to get them off if you need to. :seeya

thanx!
do the spinners thread onto the hub?
or does the hub thread into the wheel center?
and if it dosnt thread into it...does it just snap in like the stock hub?
do you have pix of yours?
Re: whataya know about wheel spinners??? (SIGNGUY)
the hub slips in and has little set screws the thread into the wheel slot and the spinner threads on to there. To put them (the hubs) on, you have to take the wheel off. Look at my sig pic.. i think you can see some of it on there or go to this link, it's my web page. I have bought from both ecklers and Mid america. I like the spinner itself from ecklers but i like the hubs from mid-am. the hubs from Mid-am are a touch shorter, but the threads on them are identical. one thing that stinks about both of them is that if you lose one spinner, you can't buy just one from them, youhave to buy the set. I treid this week but they did give me the vendor's number so i was able thru them.
Re: whataya know about wheel spinners??? (SIGNGUY)
Used to have them on my 79 long time ago:
Anyway, one of the spinner came off while I was driving around 80mph and it scraped a nice 10" long stripe in the paintwork, so no more spinners for me! They looked cool though! :D
Do NOT get those things from Ecklers. If you drive your car year round, the surface finish will begone before you know it, it's extremely cheap chrome-like finish. The set screws are okay, but in my experience, you have to adjust them very evenly, or they will distort and pop out. Worst of all, the front ones cannot be put on without taking off the wheel, and when you try to put it back in, the hub will very likely pop off the spinner, leading to an endless readjustment until you get it to stay on. This may be partially fixed by finding shorter set screws, but with the very short-life finish, why bother?
I loved the look while I had them. Get a quality part like OHSIXX has and they'll actually last long enough to enjoy them!
I also put the spinners on my Cragar SS mags recently. They look great. I only had one come flying off after the initial installation. I learned, the hard way, how to properly tighten them. It's a little tricky because you have to leave the spinner loose enough to barely rotate it to get at the fifth lug nut when you want to take the wheel off.
Re: whataya know about wheel spinners??? (Tele_Man)
Spinners are cool, but I think you may be limited to the choices you have sticking with the factory style wheel.
I saw a recent ebay auction for a set that had a choice of 2 eared, 3 eared or hex nut center with the cone to hide the wheel nuts...think they where around $60 and would fit and flat center surface wheel.
