Default Stupid Overheat Question

New to vets, I have a little overheat problem 180 on HWY (thats fine)and she is heating up to 210-220 in town, like I said I'm no Vette expert but the fan blades(pitch) is pushing the air forward, is this just a VETTE thing or did BUBBA put the fan blade on backwards!!!!!!!! With my hand directly behind the fan at the water pump their is NOOOOOOO air being moved back, all the air is straight up and forward their is a shroud?????????????

I just got the vet and have had to fix a few Bubba"s already.

So which is it forward to the bumper, or back to the driver.?? The fan clutch appears to be new.

Thanks Dave

I believe you have found out that bubba does a lot of things wrong. Sounds like he may have "fixed" your fan for you. It needs to be drawing air through the radiator. You are correct the fan should not be blowing into the radiator.

Thanks Guys I thought I was going crazy at first, I just wanted to make sure before I turned it around. Looks like Bubba changed the fan clutch and got it backwards.

If I remember right the fan will still force air the same direction even if it's turned around. It is less effective backwords, but will move air. To check, look at which side of the blade is leading (to left or right) and if turned around if the same (left or right) leads. I hope that makes sense. :smash:

:iagree: It hard to describe in words (it actually vary turbulent air, it was being kicked upwards not foward if that makes sense!!! The blade cup is in the wrong direction, makes a vary poor efficient air PULL.

Hope this Bubba never puts my Boat prop on.

My OE fan blade was stamped "Front" between the bolt holes. Check yours and install accordingly.

 ................hey........ you are correct! (After slowly playing with a fan.... turning it around..... wow! )

You would have to turn the fan in the opposite direction to get the air moving in the wrong direction, and that would be very hard for even Bubba to accomplish!

Got the blade CUP going the right direction now(much more efficient) I guess Bubba could not read the "forward" stamp. Dropped close to 20 degrees.

Guess I can hold off on the electric fan until the rebuild!!!

Thanks guys
