Default somebody help me please

i am selling my bmw m coupe and my harley chopper so i can get a 68 or a 69, hardtop prefered, i know nothing except that i love the looks of this particular vette and i must have one.

any tips on what to look out for when i look at the cars is appreciated, i dont want to buy a pile of junk that just looks good.

i dont really care that much if the numbers match, i want a car i can drive and is reliable.

i prefer a yellow or black.

i like the look of the sidepipes, but does this cause problems as far as ground clearance goes?

whats the deal with all the different hoods?

i like the hoods with the 2 "slits"? on the top, what does this signify?

is the 427 motor the way to go?

do ALL THE T TOPS LEAK? i would not like that, but i think the coupes look much better than the rag tops.

what about a rag top with a hardtop also?

any help in this area is greatly appreciated/

pics of my harley can be seen here:

To answer some q's --most t tops do not leak--427's use lots of gas--and are expensive --buy a guide to vettes so you know what your looking at look for frame rust --gills on hood usually means big block engine--tho not always-in my opinion your better off getting a done car as parts sometimes are spendy my 2 cents worth --anyone else Glenn oh yes welcome and enjoy --save the wave

Given the choice between those 2 years, everything else being equal, I would go for the 69. 68's had a few issues being the first year for this style, those issues were corrected in the 69 model year. Please don't mis-understand me if you are a 68 owner and reading this, both years are really awesome cars and I don't want to start a fight. My best advice to you is shop around for the one you really like. To get a really good one you will be looking at prices in excess of $25,000, then get some of the guys here involved in helping you check the car out prior to purchase.

:iagree: Read the faqs, beware of rust, buy the best car you can afford, because the beaters will nickel and dime you to death. You can score a '68 or '69 small block coupe in pretty good condition in the mid teens $-wise if you shop around.

Welcome to the club.
