Default Anyone try the header insert mufflers?

I'm looking at getting a pair of header insert mufflers, either the dynatech cones or the baffle type ones. Does anyone have experience with either of them? Which ones muffle best??

I need these to keep the sound ***** happy, my truck is insanely loud with side exit 3" duals and dynomax race bullets

I don't think the noise ***** are going to be happy with the insert cones if they don't like the Dynomax mufflers.

I use 2 auger style baffles as shown here
http://www.speedwaymotors.com/xq/asp...qx/product.htm

They are too loud. 2 in each pipe might be enough but by then the assembly would be 22 inches long.

I tried the Car Chemistry inserts in the collectors of my Hooker sidepipes, they made little or no difference in the "noise" level....

i just installed those augger style inserts for my sidepipes,i welded 3 of them together and capped off the center and it made a world of difference over the open pipes. My neighbors will be happy now.

I need something that will quiet down my existing system without adding more full mufflers. I need something that slips inside the exhaust and am not certain what to use. Although I like my system and the sound it makes the local cops don't like it at all and they are all over me. They asked me if I was trying to break the sound barrier in a different way. I'm pretty sure that one of these days one of them will be in a bad mood and I will have to have the car re-inspected...not a good thing at all since I also removed my seat belts and I have illegal lighting and other stuff that's not allowed :)

Just need to take the attention off it a little...damn :(

How do you secure those auger things inside the pipe?

i drilled a hole in the pipe from the backside so you dont see it and i made a bracket and welded a nut to it and then welded the bracket to the augger, works great.

Pat, any chance you could post a sound clip of the auger muffs?

Are those auger mufflers the same as JCLs?

Heres what I made when I was having trouble with the noise ***** (EPA)
Unfortunately it fell out straight after I had it tested!
Didn't seem to add that much backpressure (ie reduced performance) and gave it a mellower note. Fitted in the collector with the baffle section in the 2 1/2 pipe.

I have thought of running an auger setup for a while now. This is what my plan is (if I ever get around to it).

Buy 4 3.5" auger inserts (from Summit, they are $10 each: PTE-H3843)
Buy 4' 3.5" aluminized tubing (from Summit, $15)

Cut the 4' pipe into 2 2' sections and weld 2 inserts in each.
Then, I'd experiment a little and weld on the 3.5" pipe so that it fit in the side tube just like the Hooker mufflers did.

Total cost: $65 (including shipping)

Pat, did you get that sound clip?
