TESTING Anyone with a volt meter. Help (Long)
I posted awhile back about removing the aftermarket alarm that previous owner had installed. (It was very old and did not work)
When I was done, I tried everything electric in the car and the windshield wipers no longer work. It could be a coincidence as I have only had the thing on once. The motor clicks.
I just got back to it today. :confused:
I pulled out the trusty volt meter and here are the results: :skep:
1. One connector has purple, white and gray wires.
2. One has a single black wire.
3. One has a single pink wire.
4. Between white and Gray wire it is constant 12V until the wiper switch is all the way on. then it drops to nothing.
5. Between the White and Purple, 12v on all on positions. 1/4V when off.
6. Between White and Black, 12V constant.
7. Between White and Pink, it is 12V, but it varies a few tenths of a volt on various positions of the switch.
If someone has some time and a volt meter, Can you verify that this is correct? :jester
Also, if it is bad, anyone know how much the motors are? Do local parts shops have them?

You say the motor clicks, have you checked to see if your linkage is stuck or binding? Did you do any wire removing around the wiper? Is the motor grounded?

I believe that it is grounded. I did not touch any wires right next to the wiper control, however; the old alarm was spliced in many places in the factory wiring harness. That's why I'm not sure if it affected it or not.
It may just be a coincidence. I'm following another post about wipers as that person is having the same issue that I am (I think).
