When I bought my '68 project last fall, it leaked oil like the Exxon Valdez :(
I broke a valve a few weeks ago and had to tear things part way down sooner than I had planned, so while I was at it I changed valve covers & gaskets, replaced the old cork oil pan gasket with a new 1 piece rubber Felpro unit, hammered out the deformities Bubba had created in the oil pan lip by over-torquing, and replaced the rear main seal.
Now that the engine is back together, it runs like a top, and after tearing around all yesterday afternoon and parking all night in the driveway, there was NOT ONE DROP of oil underneath this morning!
Always a good feeling,I just got through with water pump, radiator and complete p/s overhaul and fired it up and no leaks good feeling. :hurray: :hurray:
Nope, no PS yet, but thanks for the parts! I'll scrounge a pump sometime before winter and do the conversion then when I pull the engine out. Looking forward to it though! I can say that there is a lot less slop in my steering than there was a few weeks ago!
Post some pics of the '68 when you get a chance.
I've been wanting to forever, but so far HTML authoring is not something I've added to my skill set...my internet service provider allows quite a few megs of space for my own webpage, I just haven't yet sat down to learn how it's done. When I do, I'll post pics.
