Hi Ya'll, I come from a BMW background. The only american experience I have is rebuilding an auto tranny in my friend's Impala SS. But my girlfriend's dad gave her a california 76 stingray......
The power steering pump was leaking badly and I thought it best to replace it. Well, I don't know how to get the pulley off the old one. I used one of my 6" pullers and I ended up deforming the pulley. So now I need to know where to get one. What's a good place to buy corvette parts from? The local autozone can't help me. Does anyone have a good used p/s pulley FS?
TIA
Derek

Re: newbie question.... power steering pump pulley (CVT4ME)
Parts stores sell a puller for the pulley. I took out the power steering pump and mounted it on a vice and used an impact wrench to loosen the pulley. You can't remove it with a rachet.

Jack, IM me I MAY have a pulley off my '72 here, well may be the same pulley, not sure, I think mine is a press fit, have to go check maybe later today, not now....

Nope, design changed in '75. You can get a brand new one from Zip for $34. Part Number SC-405

I had exactly the same problem (mangled) Just drop by the local junkyard. They will have a million power steering pumps with pulleys on them. I bought a pump and pulley for $25, took off the pulley, and returned the junkyard pump as my core (not perfect match for the Vette pump but the counter guy at Autozone won't notice or care.) Then you keep your old Vette pump and you have a spare.
BTW, sorry to hear that you come from such a shady background (BMW) but we won't hold it against you. :D
