During the hot summer months I plan my cruising for early mornings and late afternoons/early evenings with extended stops and eating during peak sun hours. Cruisin' tree canoped roads is also nice during the middle of the day.

Re: give your tips for keeping cool without A/C (goofygrin)
With a 68 bigblock convertible, I must have the top down. I always wear a hat and try to remember to use sunscreen and I keep a towel and a bottle of water in the car. As i explained to my wife, it is most important to LOOK cool  even if you are sweating your butt off!
also, I have noticed that if the engine temps are around 185 I get much less heat inside the cabin than if the engine temp climbs to 210.

My tip is never drive a car with A/C, and have a spare shirt.
Seriously, I have never used A/C (except when driving with my wife) and have driven 7 years in S. Louisiana and 9 years in Dallas. I can drive in 5 o'clock traffic home at 105* outside and not have a bead of sweat on my head when I pull into the driveway. Now, my shirt is damp from the vinyl seats, but it's not too bad. I believe that my body has adjusted to my habits.

I bought some of those neck bands filled with that water absorbent poly fill.
Soak them is a cooler full of ice water for awhile to charge them up and then I wrap it around my neck and tie it inside my fire suit. Fit's under my Simpson neck brace and helmet. It keeps me cool and clear headed sitting forever in the run lanes waiting to go:)
I haven't had A/C for years so on my long trips I do the same thing. Cycling them through the cold ice water periodically. It's the next best thing to a full cool suite.

I used to drive my 67 firebird in about 110 degrees weather home from work i would get a big cup of ice and chew it up on the drive home it actually kept me from dying
