How much $$ do you have into your Vette?

[Modified by GrandSportC3, 3:49 PM 6/27/2004]
$23k initial
$500 heads
$500 clutch
$1500 brakes
$500 front end
$1000 other assorted
= $26k total (CDN) over 6 years
not too bad. my car is in great shape and mostly original so there will be many more projects coming soon =$$$.

i knew this would be a car that i would keep "forever" and i just wanted it to be the absolute best it could be...
just past the 30k mark and headed for 31 rapidly...
13k initial purchase and over 18k since...
and i do ALL of the work myself with a little help from my friends...
it NEVER goes to a "mechanic"...

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
I know it hasn't been THAT terrible, but I have had a few miscues, like 2 sets of aftermarket exhaust pipes before going to the muffler shop... including coated headers, $561, +275 exhaust ! + $350 exhaust 2, + $475 exhaust shop, + $175 mufflers + estimate of $150 for at least 5 various pairs of exhaust tips!!
There is $2K in the exhaust system alone!
Now, if you had asked me, I never would have guessed I had spent $2000 on my exhaust system!!! So, thanks a whole bunch for making me do that!!!
edit => see, I didn't even include the Summit H-pipe kit I used for exhaust pipe set #2.
OH GAAD.... and the Hedman connector pipes that I couldn't get to fit, and the 3 different types of flex pipe I bought trying to connect my headers to the rear pipes... and the $100 of extra high quality gaskets and stage8 header bolts.... and.... and..... and....$$$$$$

I'm over $30K in receipts and have let it rest for the last 6 months. I guess with the divorce behind me it's time to quit moping around and get back to work on it.

Suspension: VBP Perfromance Plus suspension : $2000
Wheel bearings, Spicer HD u-joints, Tom's Spindles and other suspension crap: $750
BTO 200R4 Stage 3 + everything for the install: $2000
Wheels and tires: $1000
Paint: $1500
Engine, aluminum water pump, alum radiator: $3500
New Pro Topline aluminum heads-still in the box: $1000
Mini starter: $120
Exhaust: $700, but will be completely redone
Brakes w/all stainless lines:$800
So far that's about $20,000 and that doesn't include all of the little crap(window regulators, $300 Autometer Ultralite gauges, March pullies) that probably equals at least another $1000
So at least $20,000- holy crap!!! worse than I thought!!
EDIT: I forgot to add that I plan on a killer small block that's going to cost me at least $5000(at least a 383 and possibly a 427) and a new paint job with fender flares and different wheels. Crap this is expensive. Oh yeah, and my hi-rise cowl hood still needs paint. This blows.......
