Default 1980 Rim Options (ideas?)

Well... I'm off the garage to continue work on the interrior refurb and should have it done by the weekend. Am already thinking about moving to the exterrior and have been seeing A LOT of really rims on some of your Vettes.

I would appreciate picture postings in this thread from anyone with custom rims on their Vette. I'm on the hunt for the personalized look and rims will probably be the first step.

Thanks!

Ed

You are just absolutly killing your project list. I still haven't done anything since we chatted last week.

My personal opinion is that anything larger than 17" on a C3 just doesn't look right.

I think the most popular wheel of the C3 group is the Torque Thrust II. Torque Thrust D's look stellar on early C3's, but goofy on later cars.

As I and many others have thought here, if only someone would make the stock aluminium wheel in 16" & 17" sizes they would make a killing.

17x8.5's with 255/50/17's and the rears are 17x9.5's with 275/50/17's. The picture in my sig shows my old 40/45 series tires, but I now have the 50 series Nitto tires. I like them a lot better than the original Goodyear tires that came on those rims in 1996.

This has become an addiction! And the forum just fuels the fire!

Seriously, I purchased the car so that I could leave work thoughts behind and "unwind"...and I have an understanding wife... Key is that I dig in after my wife and son go to bed. Also, engage on the weekends over the weekends....try to save jobs that my 6year old will enjoy.

Just talked my wife out of going to Branson, MO for a 4 day weekend...instead, we'll finish work on several rooms at home and I will get some quality time on the vette.

How's your kitchen coming?

I got mine locally for $119 per wheel plus lugs. Shop around, you'd be suprised by the different prices you'll find.

Nice wheels. What kind of offset and how wide are they? Also did you do offset trailing arms? Great looking car.

Thanks, They are 17" x 8" wide with 4" back spacing. I didn't have to fit offset trailing arms, just fitted the wheels and drove the car, they fit fine with no problems.

You might like these rims Torque Thrust D's 16x8 with 265x55x16 rear 255x55x16 front, but some day I 'll make the off set trailing arms and put the 10 inches tire and 17 rim in the rear.

I believe they are the american racing hopster rims. The previous owner had them on the car when I bought it!
