Default 1969 center console ires

Just finishing up a replacement of the heater control of my '69. Under the console plate below teh cig lighter I have acouple of wires, one orange with a black plastic connectro and a double balck wire with a brass exposed connector. There is a lug on the front edge of the plate that may be a ground point (black wires?). there is no lug on the bottom of the lighter and I don't know if the lighter worked. Any ideas for a location of these wires???

The orange wire with the black plastic connector is for the lighter. The bottom of the lighter should have a single pole sticking down which the black connector pushes on to. I don't have a disassembly pic in my file that shows the ground on the console plate ...but that one sounds correct.

You are correct about the double black wire, it is the shift console ground and should be attached to the lug on the bottom of the shift console plate. The orange wire is for the cigarette lighter and should have the same connector as the one pictured below. The lighter should have a pin on the bottom that the connector attached to.

Disregard the heatshrink on my wire as it has been bubba'd and is not original.

Thanks for the info. I figured the black for ground. I don't have the connector on the end of the orange wire. Lighter probably went bad along time ago. Being a reformed smoker...No Big Deal. Who smokes in a classic anyway.
