I plan to now. Thanks guys. I've always liked the idea of a stinger hood, just never saw one with it. The idea is to route induction (I have a LS-1 engine) to the scoop for cold air, and I think that some of the aftermarket hoods that would let me do this look a little gawdy, but that's just me, so no offense to anyone. Brutus, I'm doing the same fabrication on a spare hood now like you have done. The scoop was too big (width) and I had to cut the scoop in the middle so the bottom of the scoop was around 19", the width of the stock hood. Did you have to cut also the flared bottom of the scoop (the ends that get bonded to the hood) My scoop seems to be larger in the middle, goes from 21" to 22", also to match up the bonding edges the scoop needs to shaved down to 19" the full length of the scoop....does this sound correct to you Thanks

Hey 79, I have an LT1 in my 77 and will also proably be going with the stinger hood, however there was a big discussion o few months ago about the "RamAir" use of s stinger and some science geeks that looked into it determined that you will not get alot of air into a stinger however that t would make a great scoop for hot air to escape through the stinger scoop, which in a roundabout way will still allow you to introduce cooler air into the air intake. Your best bet is to maybe route the air filter assembly to near the front blinker, air intakes then you can have the cold air induction as well as a kewl hood and hot air evacuation through the scoop.
Either way keep us all posted as to your progress! I know I for one would like to see a tutorial or the likes as to how the install goes

You're probably right. Hot air would vent though the scoop when standing still and evacuate under the car and out the back when in motion. My idea is to route induction from the throttle body back to the scoop, but after futher though, anything that I make the ducting out of will get just as hot as the engine because it will be on top of it or over the headers, so I wouldn't gain anything. Have you routed your induction up front?
BTW Brutus, scoop, you obviously put a lot of work into it.
