You almost need to find someone and listen to their cars--other factors such as size motor, cam, tailpipe size, RPM, can affect the sound out the tailpipe. Would make a muffler" sound tape "a little hard. I have Dynomax Super Turbos and they are kind of a middle of the road muffler. Very nice 60's rumble to them, yet are nice inside the cabin for conversation etc. Will be coming to the Cities next month--would be more than willing to give you a listen. You can even touch her--she ain't a shy gal
Thanks for the info and the offer! I'm hoping to just get my car started by next month! I have been struggling with it since last fall...can't get it going...uggg

Re: opinions on flowmaster mufflers (LemansBlue68)
The Flow master rep warned me that 40's would be loud in my Vette. He recommended the Delta 50's.
The Flowmaster rep recommended the Delta 50's to me for the exact same reason. So I went ahead and ignored his advice and installed 40's. The rep was right, they are too loud for my Vette, and I absolutely love them! I don't drive my C3 to listen to the radio.
Andre: Sounds like you have the Hooker 2 1/8" headers. These really suck for street driving. They hang way too low constantly scraping the ground and the collector ends too close to the crossmember.
You may want to consider a set of Hedman 2" headers instead to solve the fitment issues. There's also the Hooker 1 7/8" that support more horsepower than you would think from such a small primary.
As for the rest of the system, you could go with a 4-muffler setup like 632C2 did. He used a dual 4" oval pipes and then split them into 4 3" pipes at the diff and then 4 Dynomax ultra-flow mufflers. He reports they are surprisingly quiet and support over 900 rear wheel hp. You'd have to loose the spare tire, obviously.
I'm running Borla mufflers on my 454 and like them. Sound good, no resonance except when lugging the engine at 1200 rpm which I avoid anyway.
I just saw some of that info as well on another thread which just came up. I do indeed have the 2 1/8 headers. My engine builder is determined that I maintain that diameter but it is just no good the way it is setup now. I will take a look at the Hedman headers or just may resign myself to the side pipes. Don't get me wrong, I like them but it is just a lot of money given I have just spent a lot ohn the engine and still have to get a hood painted etc. I want to find out if I retain 2-1/8 headers but in a sidepipe config what clearance that would give me? Some real advantageous to getting that heat right out and away from underneath the car. Should probably consider myself lucky that I haven't lost the car to a fire yet. It us truly dangerous.
