A friend of mine is going to Dallas in a couple of weeks and he promised that he would buy some parts for me when he was overthere.
Is there any good shops around there that will be similar to Jegs7Summit?
Nothing big like Jegs or Summit. The only ones I can think of are Harry's Hot Rod in Grand Prairie (not the place it used to be...), ET Automotive in Garland (not easy to find), Sachse Rod Shop in Sachse (geared more towards 30's and 40's style hot rods). I'm sure that there's a few more, but nothing like a Jeg's or Summit. I end up mail ordering most of my go fast parts, or scouring eBay. Good luck.
I live about 5 minutes out side of D-FW Airport and it took me awhile to find a engine company but if you want one of the best ones I would have to say in Texas (from what I have heard) contact CMP.
I've been to competition machine in Plano and although they have a nice shop they showed very little interest in doing the work I needed done. I needed an intake cut down on a mill. About 1/2" off the top. They quoted me $160 for something that takes about 10 minutes. Wasn't amused.
Markus, did you ever get that intake cut? If so, where?
I attempted to get an intake cut a few years back and that price is on the low side as to what I was quoted. I was told that it was very difficult to clamp the intake for a straight cut. I didn't believe it at first, but every place I checked wanted to charge $200 - $300 and one even told me it would be a 50/50 chance of being straight.
