That is a fine looking setup. Which is better: the way they look, or the way they sound? Disregard any screaming from exiting passengers. They should know better than to wear shorts/skirts/hot pants and not step widely from the car. Good job on the installation.
Dare I ask about the smog test situation.
(not bustin yer *****, always curious to see how people are doing with these on the road...)
California has asked me not to drive it on the street anymore unless I put the 350 back in it. Ain't gonna happen--Chevy should have put the 400s into 'Vettes from the get-go.
Here's a pic of all the shiny stuff you get when the boxes arrive:

I can't remember all of the details but I think maybe I read in How To Restore & Modify Your Corvette Book (1968-1982) by Richard Newton. It seems he mentioned in there that these sidepipes are neat but will not be in supply much longer because of emissions controls. I don't remember exactly I do remember that I've always wanted a set of these and that statement scared me enough to go out and purchase the side pipes before I really wanted to. I now own the side pipes for a year uninstalled. I have to finish the restoration first.
I can't seem to find them for sale at http://www.ecklers.com anymore where I originally purchase the set. All I see now are replacement pipes.
I just got mine From A-1 Parts & Performance... over $300.00 cheaper than Ecklers
Several Vendors had them in stock (So he said)
Autozone Can get them From Hooker pretty cheap
[QUOTE=Red_Shift]I heard a rumor Hooker won't be manufactuing these anymore. Anyone else here that? QUOTE]
Wow, that would be horrible, does any one else know anything else about that?
Dude
Great looking pipes. Congrats.
I finally received my SS Hookers about a week ago and will attempt install this weekend. I am curious to know if your SS headers had mandrel bend machine scratch marks???? The marks on my set are very obvious. I will have a go at polishing out the ones visible from the outside but they are pretty deep and will require some emery paper.
I was a little disappointed,,,, thought they should have polished the finished product.
Cheers
Mick

Any blems on mine are the direct result of my installation technique. (Get a bigger hammer.)
How was the installation difficulty?
Does anyone know the difference between the SS and the Jet Hot?
Did you get the headers and pipes as a package?
Are they loud? does a reverse flow make a big difference?

1. Not very hard. There may be some tweaking to do with the side tube mounting tabs and the slots in your frame may have to be extended.
2. Stainless steel is just that. Jet-Hot is a coating put on bare mild steel. My money's on the stainless for longevity.
3. Order separately. Separate boxes.
4. Yes. (when uncapped, the way I use them.) Don't know about reverse flow.
