Clean intake manifold
How does one maintain a clean engine look with an aluminum manifold that's not polished? Mine's always a mess and I know there's gotta be a way to clean it better around the bolt holes and the carbureter base.

I like to use a very carefully aimed blitz of brake cleaner, it seems to help.
Just be very careful how you spray it, don't just blast away. It's not the best stuff to get on you paint.

I used some Blue Majic metal cleaner and polish on my grungy alternator - grungy no more. Just rubbed it on with a tooth brush until it turned grey and wiped it off. Instructions say rub-it-in until black - good luck. Leaves nice clean stock look without the sandblast surface from a blaster. Has protective polish too. Pep Boys sells it fairly cheap.
BTW I belive no aluminum intakes installed on vettes from '73 to '77. I have a '78 alum intake but don't know how to clean out that EGR passage. Tried a hot spray wash tank at a radiator shop for $20 but no luck. None of the local trans shops want to tank it for me and this experimenting is getting expensive.
