Default Buying a C3....hopefuly

Hey, I am hopeing to save up and buy a vette (probably in a few years) and I want to try to get a C3, but I want to know what I could expect to pay for one that runs with out much trouble ie doesn't need constant (expensive) work. I realize that basicly anything will need work, but I was hopeing for less then about $600 a year or so. Any thing on what I can expect would be great. Thanks!

That doesn't sound feasible to me. Old cars all have problems... expensive problems at some points.

Unless you buy a completely freshened & restored vehicle, it probably won't meet that requirement.

Your wishes/ideals do not mesh with C3s. Maybe you should save for a late model Honda or something.

Yeah, I was kinda guessing that that would be the case , but it was worth a shot. But do you have any suggestions on what would be a good vette, without too much hassle, for under 10K. I would like to get one from the 80's, but i think money and repairs might have to take some proirity.

I seriously wish I could be optimistic about an '80's vette but in truth they were a POS for the most part.....and very difficult to maintain....the trannies, alternators, interiors, roofs/leaking/ and dash panels....problems abound...be aware....most are very limiting to the life of the car, typical of anything over electronic these daze.....

now by maybe 96 or so MAYBE they fixed some of the just plain crappy problems with the C4 generation....

but if you want to drive a vette on the cheap, and avoid the additonal problems of some later generations...you may well be advised to buy a GOOD CLEAN C3 'shark' and have over with it, thereby allowing upgrading as your leisure to the more positive aspects of modern engineering....IF your local governmnet allows it, of course....
