I'm buying headers for my 81 and i dont know what type to get, ecklers has one for that year range of vette for 220, but summitracing has some hooker competition series for 150, but im not sure if those will fit, it says any 60 something to late 80's chevy 350, what should i get, and if any of you have headers on an 80-81 L-81 what type fits good, and what type do you have.
Dynomax ceramic coated headers are very popular, priced right at about $230 and fit very well. Have em and like em. Get true duals to get the most out of them.

I installed them myself! You don't know how much that means. I can barely change the oil without breaking something.
Allright, i already have true duals, I had a custom exhaust installed about a month ago, and now i have a leak or actually leaks, in my manifold, so might as well put some headers on it, i have a very aggresive cam, Edelbrock 600 performer carb, weiland intake, and the exhaust, i have stock gears though 2.72 ugh. So what do you thank, bye the way i live an a emmisions free area, i dont have cats just flowmasters, and the louder the better, and will i have to pull the engine to put them on.
No need to pull the eng but you might need to move some stuff out of the way. have to remove the z-bar if you have a 4 speed. I think I can drop the passenger side down throogh the eng compartment but found the driver side easier to come up from the bottom, it is one way or the other, don't remember off hand.
I just installed mine last week. The passenger side went in from the top. I did NOT remove the starter. However, it would have made it a much easier process with it out of the way. As for the driver's side, I jacked the car up about a foot and slid the header in from underneath. The driver's side took about 2 minutes to get in position. The passenger side took about 6 minutes due to fighting the starter.
