Sorry I missed this post. I still haven't driven the car far. I finally took it out for the first time this spring the other day and the heater core started leaking. I feel the distributer is a very high quality unit. I like the fact that you have several different advance curves available by just changing a switch on the outside of the distributer. You can change both the mechanical advance and vacuum advance separately, so there are lots of combinations you can try. It's definitely a slick setup. The only difficulty I had during the installation was getting pure 12volts to the distributer. In '69 Ford used a resistor wire to the coil. I ended up running a relay with the resistor wire and grabbing 12volts directly from the battery.

Ok, I have a question. What is the minimum amount of mechanical advance you can select, and can it be "locked out."?

Thanks!

Yes, you can lock out both advance mechanisms. This link will show you the selectable curves. It looks like it varies from 20-26 degrees of mechanical advance.
