Default Louvered C3's...need help please..

Hi all,

Just got my "new" old Crager Louvers and need some mounting assistance. They came with the stainless steel upper mounts..they are flat with one end that has a small curve on it..think this is the end that slides under the trim and "grabs" onto the leading edge of the rear glass. The flat area, I guess has like some 3M adheasive that will need to be replaced and secures to the window at the top..which this also incorporates the hinge. There are two bottom brackets and thier positioning and set up are pretty self explanitory. If you guys could get me some pics of how your louvers are mounted...preferably top hinge mounts..I would greatly appreciate it...thanks in advance for the info! If you cant post..email me pics at dmclain@satx.rr.com. Thanks again...Joe!

I had those on my 81. Don't have any pics, but will try to answer questions.

As I remember, the edges of the hinges slip under the window molding and are held in place with 3M tape. Buy the good stuff to make sure the louvers stay in place.

If you have the style that has separate pieces for the sides of the curved window, those parts also have a lip that fits under the molding and uses the 3M tape.

When I replaced the 3M tape, I did not have to remove the molding.

When I bought my car it already had the part of the hinge that goes under the trim on it. The hinge was plastic and was broke off so that just the window part was still there. The plastic part was rivited to the metal part going under the trim. The louvers I got from "Older Than Dirt" came with the same plastic type hinge. I couldn't see putting this on as it didn't look like it would last long. I fabricated new hinges from stainless steel piano hinge stock from work, drilles out the rivit holding on the plasic part onto what was left of the old hinge and bolted it all together. Should last longer that the car.LOL Was kind of tedious and had to grind down all the bolts, but after I painted it all it looks ok. Check out page 5 at the link in my sig for some pics I took just for you. Hope they are clear enough

Not sure what brand mine are. Mine are 3M'ed at the top bracket and bracket sits on top of trim. I could see no other way to do it. There
was no way that it would fit under the trim on the top. Sorry it took
so long to post pics but I have been very busy getting the kids ready for school again.

No they are not new. I bought them used from someone here on the forum, I can't remember who. I sanded and painted them and then attached them mainly with th 3M tape. Only the side panels would fit
under the window trim. I normally don't drive fast, so far they have
stayed attached when I was going about 80mph. Sorry I don't have
instructions, only these pics. Hope you are able to get your's installed
soon with pics posted. Your 81 silver paint looks like the top of my 82
silver/charcol paint scheme.
