Default weird side light??

G'day Guys,
My parcels finally turned up today from Ecklers and Davies. Like a kid on Christmas morning, I ripped everything open to see what had arrived.

Amongst other things, I had ordered new rear side marker lamps. But.... they won't fit my car?!?!? The guy I bought the car off said the lights were stuffed and he put a piece of coloured plastic in there until he could buy some more. I bought the car before he ever did that.

My car looks like this....

But the lights I bought, labelled as "1974-82 Left/right Rear Side Marker Lamps" look like this...

I've looked under the car and it certainly doesn't look like the guards have been modified to take a different light. Any ideas what I've done wrong? Can anyone suggest what sort of light I should be looking for?

Any help would be (a) interesting and (b) useful!

Thanks guys...

yours look to be modified, they are certainly a lot longer than the stock stuff.

Stock looks like the 2nd pic.

That is from an early C3. If it has a metal housing, it is like the one on my '70.

Unfortunately, it looks like they shipped you an earlier model...

hard to tell..probably no one. Cutting up a rear light from some type of car to get a piece that will fit would be about the only option. that's how I made the custom rear lights on my truck (I cut up ford parts for that hehehehe )

I must say, I DO like the longer side marker.

You don't spose it would be from a an '84 or something? From pics I've been looking at, it looks like something like an '84 would fit...

Yeah, but that's only a bit of coloured plastic stuck in the hole at the moment...

Damn, worked it out just now. I've scraped away some of the grime and had a look. It must have been shunted up the bum or something before as both lower rear quarter panels have been repaired. Lord knows what the lights were out of then...

Saudi...they look like they are out of a at least 84-89 vette..My wife had an 89' and always admired how they were a comibination..marker/backup light. They were about that long..check into it. Looks like that is what they used or tried to mod from. Joe.!

Are there any tell-tale markings on the lens that you pulled out? Anything at all?

There is no lens, just the bulb holder. They could have used anything out here... :*****
