I almost sent my trailing arms off to this guy. The weekend before I was going to send them, I met the owner of a very reputable outfit that is located in NW PA. Although I hadn't done business with him before, I had heard he was reputable and my meeting him personally reinforced that fact. Little did I know that this chance meeting probably saved me mucho aggravation and money.

It sucks to get ripped off like this. I too was ripped off by a local transmission shop. He charged me for a rebuilt trans, when in fact he just spray painted the outside of the trans with silver paint! The trans still leaked in addition to many other problems. I tried getting my credit card company involved but since 60 days had elapsed, they did nothing. I also tried the BBB and they were completely useless!!! Their pre-recorded phone message said that this shop was a member in good standing!!! Maybe because the customers that were having the problems couldn't reach a human being to speak with in person!!!

I finally got a lawyer friend involved and we put together a case file documenting my problems and filed it with the State of Michigan. Within a week I got a call from a state inspector who told me that this shop has hundreds of compaints against them, and had in fact, just been closed by the State. The State filed an injunction against the franchise that was associated with this shop and threatened to pull all of the business licenses from ALL of this franchise's shops in the state if they don't reimburse all of the customers ripped of by this fraud shop.

I got my money back within 3 weeks of filing. The state inspector thanked me for my well documented report because he intended to use it in criminal court against the manager of this ripoff shop.

I'm not a guy that favors many governmental services, but in this case, the State of Michigan pulled through big time for me. The credit card company and BBB were useless despite their claims.

I agree, this guy Carl needs to spend some time in jail for fraud.

Salutations go to VPB for making things right even though this was not their problem. I will put VPB on my favorites list for the next time I need work done.

Great job on that website.

Sadly, I was scammed by this guy in 1994. I decided to use him becasue he advertised in Corvette Trader. I haven't bought an issue in years. Does this jerk still manage to advertise there? Or does Corvette Trader take his money without regard to his reputation?

Here in Pa. our Consumer Protection dept of the Atty General's office really gets results with people who don't deliver what they advertise. Even across state lines. They kicked a_s for me on 3 different occasions.

I'd like to add my dis for a crappy parts dealer - it's abesrecycledautoparts on Ebay. He specializes in rebuilt carbs. The guy is a true ahole and has serious anger issues.

I will add the information that I get from anyone that has been had by Carl.

As a side note. I recieved a letter from a lawyer claiming to represent Carl. They are concerned that I am slandering the poor man!!!!! Their problem is there is no slander in the truth, although the truth is not something Carl is familiar with.
I'm sure that so called lawyer is as crooked as Carl! Carls' lucky he hasn't been shot yet! There is no slander in this thread or your website. He is a crook and that's it. That usless excuse for a human being somehow has been getting away with robbing people for decades now! Why isn't he in jail? Are there no laws protecting consumers in Florida?

Thanks for keeping this thread out of the archives. The forum tends to lose archives sometimes! If the archives were kept many of us would have found threads like these and been protected for this Crook.

Thanks again to VB&P for you increddible act of kindness.

I was a "Carl victim" in the late 80's. He is on record with the BBB and been turned in to the Att. gen at least once. Florida is a right to work state. Florida is 100% on the bussiness's side on almost every issue. Why would they be any different when it comes to something like this?

Maybe all this info should be sent to Vette magazines, and local Florida TV stations, & newspapers that have consumer advocates that like to harrass people like this.

He used to advertise in Corvette Fever Magazine. They discontinued his ads a couple of years ago. Don't know why. Maybe his reputation caught up to him there, too?
