A friend of mine has 2 cars that don't have titles. One is a 69 firebird (he was given from a relative) and the other is a car he's been building himself for show/go. He would like to get a title for both so he can at least drive to car shows. Any help would be appreciated.
Brian, here in Illinois you can get a title, but they make you wait for about 6 months in case someone else lays claim to the vehicle. I think they also require a deposit equal to the value of the vehicle which is refunded when the title is issued. Hopefully it might be easier where you live, I suggest contacting the Dept. of motor vehicles or the Secretary of State to check on the procedure.
I Tennesse there is a process by which you run ads in the paper and send registered mail to the last known owners, then after a period of time you can get a title. In Alabama there are no titles before 1975. In Georgia you don't need a title after 20 years I believe. Call the tag office and see what is required in your state.
