Default Questions on name for Stringray

Okay, this brings me to a question, what name was given to the 82', if there was one?

I always referred mine to a stringray body style, but would not want to be wrong in a conversation.

Thanks,

Dietmar

82's didn't really have a name. All 63-82's would be called sharks with the 63's-76's having the additional designation as a Sting Ray/Stingray. I would think that you are correct in conversation by stating that yours has a Stingray body style.

76 was the last year of the stingray badges but i have a 77 with the stingray bodystyle last year of the flat back window so i consider that a stingray even if it doesnt have a badge that calls it that

STINGRAY

http://ganeys.home.sprynet.com/STINGRAY.htm

Since 63, for 15 years Corvette & Sting Ray were synonymous.
78- 25th anniversay of the Corvette- not Stingray. They were already working on the C4.

Default 1977 is not a Stingray

I bought a 1976 and not a 1977 partly because of wanting to call mine a Stingray. I understand why you might refer to a 1977 as that same body style. However, it is not a Stingray.
Sorry.
It's not.
No, really.
It isn't.
Seriously.
I mean it.
I'm not kidding.
Really.
Quite sure.
Yep.

a 77 is pretty much the same exact car as a 76, so why the chose to drop the Stingray name in 76 is beyond me, the start of the major body changes was in 78 with the "hatchback" and from there they started adding new body cladding and groud effects.

IMO My 77 is a Stingray even though I typically just call her a Shark.

WRONG! The '1968 was a "Sting Ray"

When I see official GM documentation referring to '77-'82s as Stingrays, then and only then will I consider those years Stingrays. I don't consider my '79 a Stingray.
