The courtsey lights and cigarette lighter on my "new" 75 only work with the ignition on. Initially, they worked with the ignition off, or at least the lighter and the rear compartment light did. I replaced the bulbs in the front, and when I replaced the last one (passenger side)The lights flickered once as I was fitting the bulb and then quit. All three lamps and the lighter work with the ignition in the "on" position. Something strange going on here.
I don't yet have a 75 wiring diagram. I have looked at the diagram for a 67, and it shows these two circuits both fed by a 14 ga orange wire from the fuse panel. There is a 14 ga orange wire on the 75 fuse panel that is hot all the time. Perhaps this is the feed I'm looking for????
It's been almost 30 years since I've owned a shark and they were new cars then, so few electrial problems. Anyone who is a shark electrical expert that can give me some pointers would be appreciated much. I really don't want to tear the dash out of the car and start tracing wires just yet unless I have to.
I'm not too good with electricals, but I think you may be on the right track with the orange 14 guage wire. I believe the lights, lighter, and clock will all get power from that feed. Go here and click on courtesy lights or cigarette lighter....these diagrams are for a 78, but should be helpful for a 75. Hope this helps. http://www.corvetteforum.net/c3/tune...l/index6.shtml
Take both forward lights and sockets apart from the brackets. I think I had to put electrical tape around my sockets and then press them onto the brackets to get mine working again. Drivers side by the hood release got kicked loose and the lights wouldn't go off, turning corners or over bumps the lights would flicker off. (bulb and socket would momentarily touch bracket) You may get lucky and find loose wire or something at the passenger side.
