Default Heating problems.

Ok, my vette's been leaking and overheating latly, i found the source of the leak, i think its a valve of somesort? The line that comes from the engine to transfer coolant to the heater core had a valve or something on it the was all messed up and leaked like crazy, im not sure what that valve is though, maybe it controled flow to and from the heater core? if anyone has a website url they wouldnt mind posting the pic on pm me so i can e-mail it to you, thanks alot.

It's a vacuum actuated water shut off valve. It cuts off the hot water flow to your heater core when the heat isn't on, and they do go bad. You can find one through ecklers or midamerica I'm sure. Heck, maybe even autozone or the like. However, I'm not sure how good these vacuum valves are. Some people have taken to bypassing them and just using a manual ball valve that they picked up at a hardware store (that's what the top picture is).
