I'm thinking Vortech centrifugal supercharger. Fits under the hood. None of the lag associated with turbos.

What do you have now, and what does it run?
What are your over-all goals, straight-line performance, fuel economy, top-speed, etc.?
What are you willing to 'live-with' (high-octane fuel, maintainance, etc.)?

I'd put FAST bank-to-bank EFI on and a centrifugal blower. Of course you'll need a new bottom end with good internals, especially pistons (perhaps a coating). Doing this will cost money though. Your options don't seem to fit together pricewise. Supercharger alone is -3k, but you'll need a different carb, cam, and it won't much too much power with stock internals as they aren't that great and the compression may be a little high with iron heads; turbo - no clue with all the parts unless you junkyard it, then about 1k overall, but it won't be all that great; 383 - $500-$1500, ZZ4- No idea, I don't look at crate motors. You'll basically need a new good bottom end to go forced induction, and EFI is very helpful. A ZZ4 is overpriced for what you get if you just built a similiar item yourself. How fast do you want to go? How much would you like to spend.

Supercharged big-block, but unless it's an 'out-of-this-world' type C3, something like Twinnie's, it'll never out-handle the C5.....
