Default Restoration Information Question

I have finally graduated from school and moving to a place that has a good size shop and want to start a frame off restoration myself and simply out source the harder functions such as engine work etc.

I was looking in the back of the C3 Eckler's and saw a bunch of restoration guides. I want to know what book is the best to guide me through this and that has the proper information for the correct treatments. Also what is the best parts source for factory replacements. Are there any websites. Basically any information that would help is appreciated or if you think I shouldn't attempt this let me know. BTW the car is a 69 427BB 4sp

Thanks,

The AIM manualand GM Service manual are probably the most important sources of reference you should get.

You will need to get a lot of non-factory parts, there really isn't alot of parts still available through GM, but suspension and chassis parts should not be too much of a problem. Post up any questions or problems you run into here, you will usually get some very good answers.

Thanks,
In addition to the already mentioned AIM and GM Corvette Shop Manual specific to your year car, you might get the Van Steel Suspension Video, and the Nolan Adams Body Off video and workbook.

From Ecklers I purchased 1968-82 Corvette Restoration Guide (Part# 38670), How To Restore & Modify Your Corvette Book (Part# 31950), the assembly manual, the owners manual, a Chilton's manual, the Nolan Adams Body Off video and workbook, and another suspension video. All this, combined with my prevous knowlege of my Corvette has given me the confedence to restor my car.

***I really recomend buying these books, especially if you are not 100% sure of yourself (like I wasn't). When you think about it this $125 worth of books will save you money down the line.***

Oh yeah and thank God for www.corvetteforum.com Good luck
