Edelbrock performer series
I have a 76 that I am rebuilding the engine (75 block). I am researching the options for intake manifolds and would like to go with the Edelbrock performer series air gap intake. I realize it does not fit under the stock hood for the 76 but has anyone tried to see if it fits under the L88 hodd design? thanks for your help.

I put one on my '79 with Edelbrock Q-Jet and it fit just fine. The only problem I had was with the valve cover gaskets: I had to buy the thicker ones to keep them from off the intake.

I have the RPM performer on my 74 and it fits with a qjet and the stock air cleaner (dual snorkel). The rim of the air cleaner and the tube lining for the cowl induction don't fit, but I think this was discontinued after 75.

I My 72 carb was filling full of gas, just sitting there.. my machanic says get an edlebrock carb. He installed and charged me. when I went to drive it home - i closed the hood and WHAM, the stock air cleaner and hood collision. The machanic says opps, it looks like you need a preformer intake, to avoid the adapter. I purchased it and had him install. I asked him to give me a good deal because it was his fault for the recommendations. He said He could take off the cost of the TAX... BFD. Now I have to use a 2 inch low profile air cleaner. Yes it Runs great, but cost me double in labor charges. I just wanted to let you know my expierences. THANKS,,, Good luck
