Default Hey (1st Post)

Hey every body, this is my first post on the forums but i have been reading the forums almost daily for several months, i finally asked myself y i didnt just register so i did. a little about me... ill be 16 in september and i am the proud owner of a 1979 corvette, its has a 350 L-82 engine and we are going to completely rebuild it soon, my car is black with ghost flames, ill try to load a pic later, and will soon have a brand new black interior, im wanting to put sidepipes on it soon but i dont really know where to find pipes to fit my year, suggestions?... any ways i just wanted to say hello, and i hope to become part of the brotherhood i have already seen here on the boards

Welcome to the forum.

For pipes you have a couple options.

1) Hooker Side mounts -$500 and up

2) OEM '69 originals - $2,500

3) Fiberglass repos - $300 + pipes

All three with fit your '79 and all are piced differently.

It should be illegal for a 16yo to own a classic Vette.

Welcome aboard.

Welcome aboard!
16 year old, I'd hate to think what your going to have to pay for insurance.
As far as side pipes (for OEM sytle) check out ebay for the pipes, There is a vendor on there (HRVETTE) that sell a lot of side pipes you can save about a $100 over Eckler's or any of the normal vette outlets.

Hi VettDude79.I am also new to the site.I have had my 80 for just over two years.I have swapped out the 305 for a 350 and I have built it up to decent power levels at least for Cali. I have installed a Bowtie Overdrive 700R4 which is alot better for long trips with my local club.I have completed about 80% of a body on resto.I need a paint job and some interior work carpet etc.The person I bought it from slapped a cheapy paint job on there and it was perfect when I bought it.Now it is bubbling mostly on the hood and behind the back window a little.
Hope to hear more from you.

Well, don't rule out the cheaper JC Whitney sidepipes - less than $150.

Welcome. Sounds like a sweet vette. Mine will (someday) be
black with ghost flames, also.

Here is another place that has the stock style pipes - fit under stock
chrome covers or fiberglass repros.
