Upper rad hose problems
My upper radiator hose went a week or so ago so I placed an order for a new one by mail order. I asked for one for a '77 and it arrived this morning. Trouble is it's totally different to the one I've taken off and I don't think this one will fit.
I ordered it from a specialist American Auto parts place (I'm in the UK) and they never said there was more than one option and I've been looking at Zip's website and they only list one for a '77 too. And it's the same as the one I got this morning.
Here is a pic of them side by side. The old one is the long one (as if you needed telling
). I came from the radiator, down the side of the alternator then round the back of the alternator.
Any ideas what's going on?
Much oblidged.

The used hose on the left looks like a Gates. I can see the logo. I have never seen that confirmation on any original 68 to 82. If that hose was mounted, I would suspect the thermostat housing was changed from the original.
The hose on the right looks like the proper one, but it is oriented backwards compared to the hose on the left. The radiator connection end for the right hose is at the bottom of the page.
In any event, it appears you may need to change the thermostat housing if you wish to use the hose on the right.
