I took the vette autocrossing for the first time. It was great! Its amazing how much I didn't really know about how the car handled at the limit. I was surprised how stable it was.
There's a little too much understeer though. I think that's because the front tires are positively cambered (long story about a clueless alignment guy).
Other than that, and the annoyance of having an auto transmission, my brakes faded pretty badly by the last (fifth) run. Are there any brake pads that are quiet and won't eat my rotors while still taking a little abuse? The pads on there now are organic. I've never changed them, so I don't know the brand.
I recently put on a set of the Hawk HP plus pads as well given a reccomendation from my instructor at a track day. Haven't broken them in yet but they came highly recommended from someone in the know. I look forward to getting back to a track again. With the stock pads after a few laps the brakes were nonexistant. Glad you had fun, I would like to try an autocross as well but I am sold on the track.
