Default c3 sliding rear bumper adjustment question??

Well I am restoring my vette now and when I tore apart the crumbling rear bumper cover I saw that the left side was pushed in. I loosened both 3/4 bolts on both sides and tried to pull the left side that was pushed in out (the right side was fully out). No luck by hand after banging it to break it loose a little with a hammer. Looked it over again to make sure there were no extra bolts I had overlooked and tried it again. Nada. Then tried to pull it out with a chain and my truck with a little force. Nothing at all either. Is there something I am missing? From what I can see the slides are only attached by the 2 3/4 bolts on each side.

Your enersorber has collapsed because the car was hit in the back. You can press them apart again, I've done it too. Just check if the friction collar still has enough friction, otherwise get new ones. They are what saves you from rear frame damage.
