Likely an old question but could not find the answer doing a search.
What are the Timken numbers for the front wheel bearings for 1974. Mine are badly corroded and I can only read partial numbers. I also need the part # for the seal.
Partial numbers are M48????? M486 or M488
I live in Canada and border issues sometimes are cost prohibitive. I was hoping to use the local bearing shop. I don't have a NAPA or other store handy in my very remote community.

NAPA or Autozone or any of those part stores should be able to set you up with the bearings. Just tell them what kind of car you have. Then tell them you are wanting TIMKEN brand if that is what you want.
I agree. I replaced with the Timkens recently and they are fine. I walked into an Autozone a mile down the st, told them what car I had, I asked what my bearing brand choices were... and in less than 3 minutes, I had new bearings,races,etc... all in my hand and paid much less than any on-line shop.
my 2 cents..
