OIL pressure relief valve???
I am installing a new Summit high volume oil pump. It came with a spring about 1/4" diameter and 2" long. I believe this to replace the spring in the oil pressure relief valve??
Is It? And where the heck is the pressure relief valve?????
Thanks In advance.

No, that is a standard pressure spring for the pump, read the fine print in the directions it states the pump comes with a high pressure spring installed and you can replace it with the provided standard pressure spring if you choose. BTW I have one of those pumps myself.
The relief valve you are thinking of is in the spin on adaptor that bolts to the block. I bought a summit billet one that does not have the bypass, the bypass can allow unfiltered oil to bypass the filter when the system is under high pressure like on cold start up which is not the best thing for an eng. Most people agree a high volume/pressure pump is not needed unless you are running loose tolerences like in a race eng. That being said I was dealing with low pressure from a bad bearing and was trying the pump as a band aid, the eng is now out on an eng stand so I fix it right.
