Default yet another fiber optics ?

I am looking to repair my front fiber optics (the rear is completly missing, so I am going for the low hanging fruit )

Where do they attach to the headlights?

If you have the original headlights (or can get a look at a set of NOS), you'll see that there is a small patch of the blackout paint missing from the casing of the lamp. The tip of the fiber optic strans was pointed at this cleaned spot.

I have been told that modern halogen replacements do not have the clear spot. I'm sure the T3 repros have it and older non-halogen replacements have it. Original T3s sell on Ebay from time to time or can be found at swap meets.

Pull the connector off of one of the headlights. Look at it. Looking at the connector end you'll see the sockets that apply power to the headlight and in the center there'll be a little hole about an 1/8 inch in diameter. This is where the fiber optic cable is inserted. The very end of the T3 headlamp is clear glass; i.e. the headlamp nipple is not mirrored. Light from the nipple illuminates the end of the fiber optic cable. Your headlamps will need to be T3's or equivalent. T3's are availabale from Corvette part houses. They sell for around $140 a pair!
