Default Mallory Dist Advance ?

Bought a electronic Mallory Comp 9000 (Model 96) on ebay. My research shows that this has a mechanical advance of 24 degrees. Since there is no vacuum advance unit (like my trusty HEI), how to I get the extra 10 degrees total (total 34) that I need?

Set your initial advance at 10. Combined will give you the 34.

Is there any adjustability in the distributor? The MSD unit I bought had interchangeable bushings that controlled the amount of advance and springs to control the rate at which the advance was applied.

Mallory sells an advance adjust kit for some of their units. I got a kit for my older Unilite with no vac advance. It was a combo of springs and little plastic inserts. It will advance to a max of 24. Factory setting is less, perhaps 18 or so I think I read. Go online to their website, it's pretty detailed if you look around for your model #.

Regards, Mark
