Default Master Cylinder question

if the brakes are pumped when the cover is off the master cylinder should there be two small geysers(sp) or just one? If it is supposed to be two (just the one furthest from the pedal disturbs the surface of the brake fluid) what is a likely cause? Thanks!

I would think two... most likely cause would be a power booster rod that is adjusted wrong (too long). The spurt of fluid comes from the piston in the MC retracting back to its resting position which lets fluid return freely from the brake system into the reservoir. If the piston is not retracting all the way you could have residual pressure in the lines when you're off the brakes which would cause the brakes to drag.

It seems to squirt when the pedal is pushed... nothing on the release that I can see. (though I need to get someone looking while the other is pushing to be sure)

How do you determine if the booster rod is the wrong length?

Thinking about it I think mine's the same way. The squirt comes when I press the pedal... but I think there's also some when it is released...

I adjust the pushrod so that the squirts are close to the beginning of the pedal travel.
