An upgrade to the stereo system is in the works, but I'm kind of stumped on what to do for the front speakers. Would be nice to keep it clean and put upgrades in the dash, but how much clearance is there? Kick panel speakers is another option, but again how much clearance is available? What did you go through to replace yours?
One more quick one off the subject. Pulled out the storage compartments and found 2 wire harnesses disconnected. One looks like it's for a light in the center compartment. The second is on the passenger side. Any idea what it's for? Maybe for my dome light, which doesn't work. I was going to look in my service manual wiring diagrams, but thought I would throw it out to you guys to see if anyone has a quick answer.
they sell a small harness for the light in the center compartment. it comes with the switch and bulb, i used a unibit to drill the hole you'll need to accept the base, in the passenger side corner of the trim,, as far as the passenger side compartment,,,,,that would be the jack stowage,i dont recall at this time any wiring in there, the jack straps to the bottom in there,i dont remember ever seeing any wiring.the assembly manual is very helpful in these ''hunts'' for it has loads of pictures and diagrams,, best investment for any vette owner!
I had kickpods fabricated into my kickpanels. I was able to fit 4x6 coaxials in the dash and 6.5" coaxials by my feet. For the best sound out there go with MB Quart from Germany. Infinity Kappas are very good as well. Dollar wise the best good speaker for the money is probably Alpine.
The kickpods we're not that expensive and they did not get in the way at all. Good luck.
