I need some advice on how to improve a shifting characteristic. My car shifts great at light to medium throttle, kicks-down OK at part or full throttle (after I fixed the switch) but doesn't shift well at higher revs/heavier throttle. If you boot it then lift off the throttle at (ex.) 4500 rpm it'll hang there, just revving, for about 2 seconds before it'll upshift. I'd appreciate thoughts on how to improve this. Modulator? Governor?
I just noticed that the modulator (I think that's what it's called - hung off the right side of the tranny) has an adjustment screw sticking out of the middle of it. Does anyone know if this is OEM or aftermarket? Looks like it was painted blue at one time.
thanks, I'd already checked those The article about changing governor weights/springs to fine-tune upshift speeds is interesting but I don't know if this is where my problem is. I think that Matt Gruber also wrote another article a while ago but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Now that I think about it, he might have a website and I guess I'll look there.
