Default Junk Power Antenna

My 78 needed a new power antenna with CB option. Well they don't make an original replacment so I bought a AC/Delco replacment ( i thought ) from one of the big Corvette Vendors. Well box did say AC/Delco, made in fricken China! To make a long story short don't buy one!! It lasted 4 months and broke! Not to mention how hard it was to put in. Tough lesson to learn was just 150 bucks! Lets get get back to products made in U S A.
Any ideas where I can find one?
Thanks

Depends what is wrong with the old one. They sell a repair kit for the original antennas is all you need is the mast/drive cable assembly. I broke mine back in about '92 and kept it while I ran a boneyard replacement. Hope the kit works for my old antenna. The kit is cheap at about $20. The originals are hard to come by and pretty expensive if you do find one.

I fixed my 78 power antenna with one of the replacement masts I got from Ecklers for $20. My nylon strap was broken, but the motor would run. I took it out and opened it up and took out old nylon strap. The one I bought was just long enough, but it had a metal sleave on the end. I took a dremel and cut the sleave away and it was the perfect length. I put it in and hooked it all up and it has been working like a champ.
And yes, dropping the muffler to get into the antenna motor was fun.

Good luck,
Bob

And if the DIY route is too much of a challenge, there is always the USA small business restoration service that will take your original and rebuild to original specs. That's what I did with my 78 power unit and was quite please. However, can't recall the business.
