Default Which intake gasket

If I just go to the local parts store I simply get a SB intake gasket but I do want the blocked exhaust crossover.

So which port size do I get?

FPP-1204 Chevrolet: 262-400, 1.23 in. x 1.99 in. port, intake gasket set $12.88
FPP-1205 Chevrolet: 262-400, 1.28 in. x 2.09 in. port, intake gasket set $13.88
FPP-1206 Chevrolet: 262-400, 1.34 in. x 2.21 in. port, intake gasket set $14.88
FPP-1207 Chevrolet: 262-400, 1.38 in. x 2.28 in. port, intake gasket set $14.95

Gosh it used to be simple now it takes a Masters to figure it out??

Here's a plain Jane 262-400 gasket set but has exhaust crossovers, not good for the Chevy orange POR-15 I'm putting on the Performer (seems to fade color at the exhaust crossovers).

EDL-7201
Chevrolet: 262-400, intake manifold gasket
$12.95
This Edelbrock intake manifold gasket set features a metal-core with bonded material and an embossed silicone bead around each port opening for an positive seal. The kit does not include end seals, as Edelbrock suggests using RTV silicone. Ideal for aluminum intake manifolds.

1205 should be the one what intake and heads do you have. I use the 1206 for Victor Jr. heads Victor Jr. intake, I used a 1205 on Sportsmam II heads and RPM Air Gap intake

Dave, Most sets I've seen have the exhaust crossover holes,
but they come with metal inserts that can be placed in the holes
to block the crossover. It almost looks like there are these pieces:
in the bottom of the Edelbrock picture that you put up there.
Plus, I'm not sure I would trust paper to hold up - metal core: yes.

Dave,
If you still have the original L-79 heads then the Fel-Pro 1204 or the Edelbrock 7201 will be the best choice to match your port size. The problem is that some people have a hard time getting the 1204 to seal with an aluminum intake.
I would recommend the 7201 and make your own block-offs. A thin piece of tin is all it is. A coffee can is the right thickness and I make block off's out of them all the time. Just cut them out with a tin snips and put them between the intake gasket and the head.

I would find a piece of this stainless steel "shim stock" scavenged from one of your wife's stainless mixing bowls in the kitchen cabinet. I like a flat piece about 1-3/4" wide x 2-1/4" long and bend a 1/4" lip on the end. You can install that between the head and the intake and it will slip right down between the bolts. The 1/4" lip prevents it from falling too far in. Put it on the drivers side especialy if you have a choke coil mounted in the intake manifold.

Do not block the passage on cast iron intake cars or any car that still has a functional exhaust heat riser valve attached to the end of the exhaust manifold. The cast iron intake will take too long to warm up and the heat riser valve will cause you to cut off the exhaust flow to one side of the engine if it is still operative. Most of you guys have the heat riser long gone or have headers installed but I thought I would mention it for those that still have them and were considering the mods.
