Well playing around with my new vette I found a few things that need fixing. ( nothing big ) Just wanted some advice, and opinions
Everything on my dash works fine, however the clock doesn't, also I know that 76's are suppose to buzzz when you open the door while headlights are up, or engine is off, mine doesn't, and I don't think the alarm works right, because when I turn the key by the stingray, it won't beep like it's suppose to, also I don't get the buzzz for seat belt reminder.
Nothign critical, but I want to fix, was wondering if its simple enough that I could do myself, or do I have to go to an electrition, or is it hard that only the dealer may fix
Anyway how much do you guys think it will cost if I do myself/electrition/(dealer )
sorry, not familiar with the 76. My 68 has the buzzer in the horn relay out side under the hood on the inside driver side fender. Try that for starters.
If you are decent at basic electrical troubleshooting and you own a voltmeter, you could always get a wiring diagram for your year car from one of the parts suppliers and get to it. They certainly made life easier on me! I'm afraid to think what it would cost to get all this done at a shop!
If you get a service manual and aim (one of which should have a wiring diagram for your car), and know a little about basic electric problem solving, you can do it your self. The clock is common enough that they have repair kits available and conversion to quartz kits. Do a search in the archives on them and you will find lots of material. one past thread told how to clean the clocks contacts and it worked fine. The alarm system is more complex, just because it has so many componets. The buzzers could be defective and hard to find or get at and also have wiring problems. Good luck
