I blueprinted an L82 onetime, it had an advertised 9-1 compression ratio, but it measured out at a true 8.8-1 with stock 76cc heads. The bottom end was all forged and four bolt.

I'll be pulling mine this winter after building up a 383. My L-82 has 106K on it and still runs great, but not worth doing up at this point. I would much rather build up a new (old) block than mess with mine...
It will be a street motor (I have an auto) low-RPM high torque- will be using forged/cast parts mix (cast crank and forged pistons) and it will still be better than the stock L-82.
