Well so far I haven't even jacked up teh car yet. I am taking out stuff that might be in the way or that I just don't need. I just took out the tire carrier. Didn't even have a tire in it...that's 35 lbs that won't be going back in. Kinda cool to see the halfshafts.
so i see i have too take out all my exhaust...this sucks since the duals are once piece all the way back from the headers... hope wifey doesn't mind when it is in the living room.
Just drop the exhaust off with the transmission crossmember. Assuming it's an automatic with a removable crossmember. Make sure you support the engine at the rear of the oilpan to keep it from pivoting.
Huh ? What Schmucker said. I already suggested that in your
earlier post. The only hangers that should be there are at the
tranny crossmember and at the muffler outlets. You have NONE ?
ps - full welded system is usually good - until you need it out of the way.
dayum i am 1 jackstand shy of getting this thing down...can't find my vette book. should i unbolt the tranny before lowering the crossmember? i don't have a tranny jack and autocrap and oriellys don't rent them.
Tranny jack,....easy....just drill a 3/8 16 hole in center of your floor jack cup, and tap for bolt.....take a 2x6 with recessed bolt through center, and run it down into the cup....then you have something you can wire tie to the tranny....or even drill two holes to catch super long bolts into the pan, if you really paraniod.....ME, I just balance the tranny on the 2x6 and get over with it....
I jack the living crap outta my cars for that operation....
mmm fun, got tired of waiting for the fluid to leak out of the pan so i just taped a hole in it... I'm replacing the POS anyways...has a couple small dents in it.
