80 factory tach question
My tach does not operate correctly. It works for a few minutes once and a while. It just usually sits at 3200 rpm, even with the car off.
Does any one rebuild the factory tach? I know it has a circuit board or two on it.
If they are rebuildable who would you recommend?
Is it better to rebuild it or purchase a new one?

My tach read really high when the car was running.
I ordered the tach circuit board from Mid-America. Once the guage is out, it is real easy to change.
You would have to remove the lense, then the panel that is in front of the tach and speedo, then remove the three screws holding the tach in place. Then gently pull the tach out and then remove a couple nuts, slide the old circuit board out and the new one in and replace the nuts. Then put the tach back, then the panel and lense. It is a very easy project.
