1982 Speedo replacement

) facia fitted and recal'd? As I'm in Saudi, I don't particularly want to pull my speedo, send it (at monumental expense
) to the US of A, have it fixed/modded/whatever-ya-call-it and then have it shipped back to me (once again, at monumental expense
). While all that's happening (probably several months
), I'm left with a hole in my dash.
As the story goes, he had a 79 when he bought the 82 new. He noticed the two speedo's looked the same so he ordered a new 79 speedo from the dealer and in about three hours switched the two out. It is off somewhat, 5 or 7 MPH and the flag logo is different but other than that it's good to go!
I'd recommend attempting to pick up one from a 79 and giving it a go.

However, know this. You will not get a 1982 style face that reads to 140 mph. You will get a 1979 style face that reads to 140 mph. The KMH numbers are a different color and the flag logo is different. I was under the assumption when I bought mine he put a 140 MPH face with 1980-82 style numbers / flags on a 1979 speedo. You just get a 1979 speedo.
Don't let this sway you from not getting one. I don't even notice the difference any more, and my car is far from stock. At about 120-130 mph you can't really notice the difference in the flags anyway.

They don't actually have any form of licence testing out here, you just go and apply and they give you a drivers licence. Also, the eldest male of the household can drive if the father's away
It's not unusual to see boys who look to be 12 or 13 cruising around in a Suburban or something
Thanks guys, I'll try redline
